Homerton Early Years Centre – Bulletin

28th April 2022

Message from the Head Teacher: Wishing all our families celebrating the end of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr a very happy time on the 2nd and 3rd of May.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week sees the end of the month of fasting for Ramadan for some of our families and staff members.  At the end of Ramadan, families celebrate by swopping cards and gifts, sharing sweet treats, such as the cake shown above, and doing henna design patterns on hands.  Some of our activities next week will be around explaining this festival to children. South Room have some parents coming in to talk to the class about this festival and their particular families celebrations.

Covid Update: We are now moving into treating Covid in a similar way to other illnesses. The advice is if you think your child has Covid symptoms, to keep them at home for at least 3 days, and only return to school once they are feeling better with no temperature. Thank you for your support with this.
Topic: Lifecycles and Living Eggs project

This week has been a very exciting one for the children, they have been able to follow the lifecycle of a chick initially seeing the 11 eggs in our Library area on Monday, and then watching them peck their way out of the shells on Tuesday and Wednesday. Now the chicks are starting to grow away from the warmth of the incubator.  Next week they will be visiting classrooms and children will have the opportunity to draw and hold them.

Classes visit our eggs and chicks in the Library area on a daily basis.
