Homerton Early Years Centre – Bulletin

24th March 2022

Message from the Head Teacher:

Dear Parents and Carers,

At the start of the week we were able to learn about the Persian festival of ‘Nawruz’, which literally translates as ‘new day’. It celebrates the start of Spring and new life beginning. It coincides with the Spring equinox, usually on 21st March, when night and day are the same length.

A big thank you to Daniel and Sophie’s Mums for explaining the festival to us and preparing so many treats for the children. Please see all the pictures below.

The children looked at the 7 different items on the table that represent good health, love and happiness, they include sumac representing the sunrise, garlic for good health, and dried fruit for love.

The children went on to make and wear special colourful headbands decorated with pictures of the 7 objects on the table.

Covid Update: We have continued to have cases of Covid 19 within the school this week so please keep your children at home if unwell to prevent further spread. Thank you
Topic: Eggstravaganza

Homerton also celebrated Spring and new life on Wednesday with our Eggstravaganza – I do hope you all enjoyed going around the different areas of the garden with your children, and learning about all the creatures who lay eggs.  A big thank you to all the staff for their early morning preparations towards the event.

Unfortunately our Ostrich egg was accidently broken, so if anyone happens to have a spare Ostrich egg at home they would like to donate,  please do.
