Homerton Early Years Centre – Weekly Bulletin

19th May 2022

Message from the Head Teacher: Please remember to sign up to help on your child’s school trip if you are able to – the sign-up sheets are outside the classroom doors. Nest trips are going to be on 29th and 30th June – more information to follow.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for coming along to our Bear Hunt Storytrail yesterday. It was great to be able to put this event on again and to welcome you all into the Centre . It was also lovely to see so many children enjoying making their way through the ‘Swishy swashy’ grass or enjoying ‘squelching and squerching’ through the mud.  Over the past few weeks the children have got to know this story really well by reading it, acting it out, and doing lots of creative projects involving painting and sticking to create beautiful classroom displays.

Our photographer Helen has sent back the photographic proof pictures of your children. She has done a great job capturing really natural shots.  Please do order copies via her website if you wish.

Today is our Platinum Jubilee lunch picnic provided by our catering company Dolce. So do ask your children what they enjoyed for lunch.

We are also having our own Platinum Jubilee celebration for all the children in our garden on May 25th.

This week has been ‘Walk to School week’ across the country.  We have been talking about this in some clasess. It is always great to see children arriving by bike, scooter or on foot, so thank you for doing this. If you come by car then why not park in Glebe Road and walk through the passageway with your child in the coming weeks now the weather is so nice?

Covid Update: Unfortunately Covid is still with us and we currently have a number of staff and children unwell with it. Please continue to support us in trying to limit the spread.

Chicken Pox: Chicken pox is very prevalent currently across the school, especially in West and East Rooms. Please look out for the signs of this and keep your child at home until their spots have scabbed over.

Sickness in the Nest: We currently have sickness and diarrhoea in the Nest – please can you keep your child at home for a full 48 hours after they have had their last episode of sickness or diarrhoea, in order to prevent it spreading to other children and staff.

Events and Outings

We are thinking ahead and planning outings for the children in the Nursery classes to go to Nightingale park. These trips can only go ahead if we have enough parent volunteers so please put the following dates in your diaries if you are able to help:-

21st June – West room am

22nd June – East Room am and pm

24th June – South Room am

Unfortunately if your child has a sibling who needs to stay with you then you will not be able to volunteer, as we need to stick to strict ratios for outings. Each parent will be allocated either one or two children, from the class, to look after on the outing.
