Message from the Head Teacher:
Dear Parents I hope you are all enjoying this warmer weather. As the sun is now getting hotter could you please apply all day sunscreen to your children at the beginning of the day, before they come into Homerton, in order to protect their skin. We do apply sunscreen when needed through the day but it is helpful to know children have it on from the start of their day. We would also really appreciate it if all children could have a named sunhat on their pegs, as we do not have enough spares of these in the Centre.
I mentioned last week that our school photographer, Helen Alderton, will also be visiting this term on the 13th, 14th and 15th May. She will be taking individual and class group photos and will be in South Room and The Nest on Tuesday 13th May, East Room on Wednesday 14th May, and the Nest again on Thursday 15th May. If you particularly want a sibling photo at the start of the day then please let class staff know and they will alert Helen. We are unable to do sibling photos at the end of the day as Helen leaves before pick up time.
Helen is also hoping to take some general photos of our Bear Hunt event for the website, which is taking place on Wednesday 14th May, so if any parents particularly don’t want to feature in these photos to go on the website, then please let class staff know. We already have a list of the children who should not be put on the website photos.
A warm welcome to families who are new to us this term. I wanted to remind everyone that Homerton is a no mobile phone zone, so if you need to remain on site when your child is settling then please bring a book or paper to read, instead of using your phone or laptop.
Thank you to everyone who has offered to help on the 21st May with our Really Wheelie Trail in the morning. We would like to take you up on your kind offers so just come with your child on the morning and stay to help from 9.30am – 10.45am.
Our language of the half term is Romanian so I am attaching a sheet, kindly put together by Tamsin, with the help of some of our Romanian families. I hope you have fun learning some Romanian words and numbers with your children.
I am also attaching this month’s What’s On for Cambridgeshire which has some fun activities which you might like to do with your children.

Medical Update: I am pleased to say there is nothing in particular to report this week. |
Some of the Learning this week – Most of the pictures from this week are of children playing outside and enjoying extending themselves physically in their play. Our monkey bars in the Nursery garden are particularly good for providing children with an extra challenge.
The Nest have also been enjoying physical challenges jumping from one hoop to another….
And enjoying swinging
The children have also been planting seed potatoes in pots in the gardens. We are all looking forward to seeing how many grow from the 3 original potatoes that they planted
Our final pictures are of children creating finger paint pictures of trees in blossom. The stimulus for this activity was the cherry blossom tree in the nursery garden which is in full bloom at the moment
Finger painting and using rubber bands on boards are both really good activities for promoting fine motor physical skills |
