Our Christmas Display Board outside the Centre

Dear Parents and Carers,

Mel, who runs our evening Owlets and Holiday club has been busy getting us in the Christmas spirit by putting together this display board outside the Centre. Although we try to keep things quite low key in the lead up to Christmas here are a list of some of the exciting events that are planned both for children and parents in the coming weeks.

1st December – Christmas Raffle

Please bring some money in on that day so you can buy raffle tickets – we have 11 fantastic raffle boxes or prizes. Raffle tickets are going to be £1.00 each and can only be bought on that morning from Tracey and Isa, who are kindly running the event for us. This is a fundraising event for Homerton and all the proceeds go towards putting on a really fun party day for the children on 15th December.

8th December – Christmas StorytrailThis event is for parents and children to enjoy together.

You will soon be receiving an invitation to attend our Storytrial which really brings the Christmas story to life with shepherds, wise men and even Mary, Joseph and Jesus. The trail takes place from 8.45-9.30 on the 8th December. It generally takes about 10 minutes to go around the trail, but you are very welcome to enjoy it with your children a few times. For those children in East Blue, who start their week on a Wednesday afternoon, please visit in the morning, then return home, and come to class as usual in the afternoon.

8TH December – Cake Sale – We are also holding a cake sale on the morning of the 8th December in aid of Arthur Rank Hospice. Please do bake and buy cakes for this event – again remember to bring money on the day. Rachel our lovely Nest Teaching Assistant, who is also our music teacher, is currently being cared for in Arthur Rank so we really want to support the Hospice for all the great work they do – Rachel sends her best wishes to all our families and says she is being very well looked after.

Father Christmas visiting

Father Christmas has been in touch and hopes to visit the children during the week beginning the 6th December – he isn’t quite sure of his schedule yet, but if your children tell you they have seen Father Christmas then they probably have!

Christmas Lunch

Is also planned for the children in the middle of December.

15TH December is party day – This day is just for the children

Please get your children to wear their favourite Christmas outfit, which could be a Christmas jumper, trousers, or dress, and donate a £1.00 on the day – again to go towards Arthur Rank. The staff are also looking forward to getting out their favourite Christmas tops!

The Nest Christmas Party is to take place across the whole of the last week of term from 13th-17th December.

13th December Christmas crafts stall

On Monday 13th December there is also a Christmas crafts stall running – so you can get those last minute presents. Again it is cash only with proceeds going towards funding the children’s parties and gifts from Father Christmas.

Please be aware that term ends on Friday 17th December and restarts on Wednesday 5th January as the 4th is a staff training day on Makaton signing.

Sickness

Unfortunately we still continue to have quite a lot of sickness within the Centre and have had 5 staff members so far with Covid, as well as a lot of coughs and colds. If your children are unwell please keep them at home and adhere to our sickness policy of 48 hours at home after the last bout of sickness and diarrhoea, and 24 hours at home with a normal temperature following a higher temperature. I am attaching the Sickness Policy as a reminder.

Many thanks for your support with all we do

Wishing you a very happy run up to Christmas.

Alex and all at Homerton
