Homerton Early Years Centre – Weekly Bulletin
9th June 2022

Message from the Head Teacher: I hope you all had a good half term and Jubilee celebrations. Our holiday club had a lot of fun celebrating this event here at Homerton.
Dear Parents and Carers, We have a busy and fun filled Summer Term ahead. Next week we have our ‘Claytime’ artists here on Wednesday – please ask your children, after the event, what stories they made up with our clay artists. Any children who stay all day will be attending both morning and afternoon sessions so there should be two different stories to tell you. The following week will be the Nursery trips to Nightingale Park – many thanks to all the parents who are able to help with this. Reception teachers from many of the children’s next schools have also been visiting the Centre to meet the children. We generally don’t talk too much about moving on to next schools until right at the end of the term, this is in order not to unsettle children. Finally a huge thank you goes to Hannah Golden, our Teacher Trainee in East Room, who has been a fantastic addition to the staff over the past 9 weeks. She is finishing on Friday. I am sure you will join me in wishing her well in her new position at Babraham School, starting in September. Thanks also to all the East Room staff, especially Mitali, for mentoring her during this period.

Covid Update: Please continue to support us in trying to limit the spread.
Chicken Pox: Chicken pox is still with us, despite the half term break. Please look out for the signs of this and keep your child at home until their spots have scabbed over.

Topic: Our language for this half term is Polish – please have a look at the ideas on the attached sheet. Thanks to all our Polish parents who have given us ideas for the sheet.

Events and Outings
15th June – Claytime – A story session, which involves children making up a story and our two clay artists, Sally and Steve, modelling clay props for it. The children then have the opportunity to make their own models.
We are thinking ahead and planning outings for the children in the Nursery classes to go to Nightingale park. These trips are on the following days:- 21st June – West room am 22nd June – East Room am and pm 24th June – South Room am
Unfortunately if your child has a sibling who needs to stay with you then you will not be able to volunteer, as we need to stick to strict ratios for outings. Each parent will be allocated either one or two children, from the class, to look after on the outing.
The NEST are planning a trip to the allotment on the mornings of :- Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th June –these trips can only go ahead if we have enough parent volunteers so please let the Nest staff know if you can help and put the dates in your diaries. |
