Message from the Head Teacher:
Dear Parents
We have had some exciting events this week for the children as they enjoy the lead up to Christmas. Father Christmas visited on Tuesday and is coming again tomorrow. Thanks to Roy Stamp our retired caretaker, and his wife Sandra, for being Santa and Mrs Santa. We hope your children liked their gifts, which were bought with your generous donations made to the school fund.

I know the Christmas Story trail was also a very special event, which unfortunately I missed this year due to Covid. Thank you to all the adults who came to volunteer as Shepherds, Kings, the Holy Family, music makers etc. It really is a magical event bringing the story of Christmas to life for children. It also crosses so many curriculum subject areas from storytelling, to imaginative and creative play, music, singing and dancing. It is also a very special community event bringing families from across Homerton together to share in something special.
Looking ahead to next week, please remember to bring some money with you on Wednesday 14th as we have our Christmas Raffle with 19 fantastic prizes to be won! The money raised from the raffle is used to fund our children’s Christmas parties. Tracey has been busy wrapping all the presents so here is a taster of what you could win!
Staffing News Laura Webb, our fantastic TA in the Nest, is sadly leaving us on Friday. A big thank you to her for all she has done for the children here. We wish her well as she moves on to work with older children in Cherry Hinton. Michelle Cooper, our Nest Leader, will be the key person for Laura’s children from next week.
Debbie Stebbings and Mitali Peckham are both hoping to pop in and spend some time with East Room children next week. Debbie, will not be with us for a while next term as she has ongoing medical treatment coming up. Mitali is hoping to be here more from January. East Red will continue to have the same staff members as this term for January, so children will be familiar with them. A big thank you to all of them for their work this term.

Covid/Medical Update: Please can you be vigilant for your children with the rise in Strep A cases and Scarlet Fever. To reassure you we do not know of any cases here currently, symptoms to look out for include a temperature, sore throat and rash. For more information, please refer to the letter sent out by the Local Authority.
Chicken Pox – We do have one case of chicken pox in South Room Covid – Mine is the only case I know of currently in the Centre |
Some of the Learning this week
Classes have been visiting Rainbow Room to enjoy obstacle courses and parachute play, both of which help to improve coordination and physical strength.
They have also be decorating our trees and pretending to be Father Christmas with the shaving foam!
The rest of the photos below show some of the actors preparing for their parts in the story trail. I wonder if your children can re-tell the story from looking at the pictures?
