Message from Headteacher

Dear Parents

We were really fortunate this week to be treated to a wonderful musical version of the story ‘We’re all going on a Bear Hunt’ thanks to Alfie’s Mum Rebecca, and The Cambridge String Quartet. The children were really mesmerised by watching the musicians playing as they heard one of their favourite stories being read by Mitali. The staff also so enjoyed the event so a BIG thank you to the quartet and Mitali.

Our Summer Celebration and Goodbye event for those who are leaving us now takes place on Wednesday 16th July so we will all have our fingers crossed for a dry day as we plan to hold it outside. Please see diary section above for timings.

On Friday we had Arthur’s Dad visit the Nest who, with the help of his older son Oscar, performed a science experiment simulating a volcanic eruption by firstly using, amongst other ingredients, bicarbonate of soda and warm water mixed together, and secondly using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar.  We found out that the second method was much more effective and there truly was a volcanic eruption! Oscar also told the children all about the eruption of Vesuvius in AD79 and how two Roman cities had been buried during this event many years ago.

The Nest were also treated to a guest guitarist, who was the other Arthur’s Mum.  She did some action songs with the children, whilst they played musical instruments, and had fun shaking off squares of material balanced on their heads and shoulders as they moved.

As we head towards the Summer holiday I thought you might enjoy looking at the What’s On in Cambridge magazine attached to see some of the planned events for July.

Medical Update: We have had a case of Scabies in one of the Nursery classes. Please see the link attached for more information.
