Homerton Early Years Centre – Weekly Bulletin

6th May 2026

Message from the Head Teacher:

Dear Parents

I hope you all enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend.

Next Wednesday is our Bear Hunt interactive Story trail for parents and children in the garden at drop off time between 8.45am-9.30am. Please do put this in your diaries as it is a lovely event for families to enjoy together.  If your child doesn’t attend the morning session, please do bring them along to enjoy the Bear Hunt first thing in the morning, and then come back for your usual session in the afternoon.

Just a reminder that our school photographer is here next week and will be in

South Room, East Room and The Nest on Tuesday 12th May, West Room on Wednesday 13th May, and the Nest again on Thursday 14th May.  Helen is also taking website pictures of the Bear Hunt for us on Wednesday so if any parents do not want to be in the photos for the website, then please let me know.

Thank you to all the parents who have offered to help with our ‘Really Wheelie Trail’ on the 20th May. If you have offered please do stay from drop off time until about 10.45am when it will finish. We now have enough parents to help with the event.

If anyone is hoping to have a place for their child in Half Term Holiday Club, which runs for four days from Tuesday 26th -Friday 29th May, then please can you book your child in this week in order that we can plan our staffing. Holiday club always has a lot of fun activities and can be booked for half or full days.

We had a brooch handed in to the office which was found in the park this week so if you have lost a brooch please can you speak to the office.

Medical Update: I am pleased to say there is nothing in particular to report this week.
Some of the Learning this week

Our East Room children enjoyed learning how to grow potatoes

They guessed how many will grow from each seed potato?

Our garden activity last week was to make some collaged birds – this was a really popular activity for the children and they really enjoyed it

One of our grandparents who is a hairdresser came in to teach the children all about his job

Our Nest children enjoyed cooling off with some water play

They also enjoyed challenging themselves physically by jumping off our tunnel

Nest children also enjoyed making a display for our Bear Hunt display by printing with welly boots put into brown paint and mud – they loved doing this activity
