| Dates for your diary:
Our final trip to Nightingale Park takes place for East Room on Wednesday 8th July in the morning. Please arrive promptly as we will try and leave as soon as everyone is here as it is forecast to be warm again.
Other dates Wednesday 15th July – Summer Celebration and Goodbye event for parents and children. Parents are welcome to attend at either 11.00am or 2.30pm (depending on when your child attends). We suggest 11.00am for our Nest children as they tend to rest, or have a quieter time, in the afternoons. West Red parents, and South morning parents, will also need to attend in the morning. Friday 17th July – End of Term Monday 20th-Wednesday 22nd July inclusive – Whole Centre is closed Thursday 23rd July – Friday 14th August Summer Holiday club runs. |
| Reminders and Requests:
Please continue to send children in with hats for hot weather and raincoats for showery days.
Nightingale Park Trips Please ensure your children have comfortable shoes for these trip days as there is quite a lot of walking involved. We will provide lots of drinks and a snack for the children.
Transition for children As we are trying to encourage more confidence and independence in children as they transition from the Nest to the Nursery, or the Nursery to their Reception classes, please can we ask that they walk themselves into and out of the Centre, rather than being carried. Thank you

| Message from Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers
As we are back to high temperatures again this week please can you ensure you have put sun cream on your children before they arrive here and provide a hat for the day. Staff will be providing lots of water play opportunities again and giving children regular drink and rest breaks throughout the day. If you feel your child is struggling in the heat or not sleeping so well please talk to class staff to arrange a slightly earlier pick up time.
Our final trip to Nightingale Park takes place on Wednesday for East Room children. The trips have all been really successful and it has been impressive how brilliantly engaged all the children have been, enjoying the activities there, which have included making really beautiful floral bookmarks, going on a pictorial treasure hunt, enjoying some stories under a shady willow dome, and parachute play. The children were also so good walking really sensibly to and from the park, and crossing roads. It is quite a distance for 2-4 year old legs!
Last week we were releasing many of our butterflies which we have enjoyed watching as they changed from eggs, to chrysalises, and finally into being beautiful butterflies.
You may also remember that each class planted 2-3 seed potatoes in a pot outside their rooms in April. Last week they were enjoying digging up the pots to find all the new potatoes that have grown from them. Amazingly they cropped well over 30 potatoes!
Next week is the last of the term and year, and we look forward to welcoming you here and celebrating all that your children have achieved at our Summer Celebration. The celebration is on Wednesday 15th July, at either 11.00am, or 2.30pm, depending on what time suits you best to attend.
From Wednesday 8th onwards we will be sending home your child’s special book and end of year progress summary. I hope you will enjoying looking through the special book with your child and keep it as a memento of the many and varied activities they have enjoyed through the year.
I am very pleased to report that Hannah’s operation went well and she is now at home recovering well, and being looked after by her children who were once pupils at Homerton!

| Some of our Learning this Week
We all enjoyed our trips to Nightingale Park gardens and a ride on the colourful horse before a game of ‘Sleeping Bunnies’ under the parachute.
Looking for flowers to make a beautiful book mark was a favourite activity
Back at Homerton the classes released their butterflies and children enjoyed waving them goodbye in our gardens.
West Room visited the park on Thursday last week and had lots of helpers – thank you to all the parents who have helped on these trips – we really couldn’t do it without you.
The Nest were inspired by England’s world cup win in the early hours of Monday morning to do their very own penalty shoot out which was good for developing their gross motor skills.
