Dear Parents and Carers
Hope you are all doing OK? It is very nice to feel that Spring is nearly here today – with the sun shining and birds singing.
I know we have a prediction of snow to follow so let us see what the weekend brings.
We plan to be open as usual on Monday – unless the snow is extremely heavy in which case we would let you know via a message on the website home page first thing on Monday morning.
A big thank you to Mitali and Jacqui for our zoom Gingerbread Man session on Wednesday – very good to see so many of you on the screen. As we said next week’s theme will the a question and answer session around Chinese New Year.
At Homerton we always celebrate this festival enthusiastically, as it has so many opportunities to cook Chinese food, share stories and join in with traditional singing and dancing. We are so lucky to have Dong our resident Chinese expert on the staff.
Please see the planning attached for the upcoming week which has Chinese theme. Hope you have a lot of fun watching the links and possibly making your own dragon?
The Nest has requested that children are sent in coats and warm trousers, rather than full snow suits if possible.
This is in order to help the children be more independent when getting themselves in and out of clothes and to the toilet.
Supported independence is something we really try to encourage in children from an early age as it helps them build their self – confidence.
Thank you to everyone who has made donations to our school fund. That is much appreciated.
Sue has asked me to remind you that we have now changed banks and our bank details are as follows:-
Sort Code: 52-10-46
Account No: 25740938
Account name: Cambridgeshire County Council Homerton Early Yr Business Current Account
Many of you will be aware that this week there was a national focus on mental health.
If you are feeling you need some extra support and ideas to keep cheerful through current times then do google actionforhappiness.org
The site has a lot of ideas and a calendar for the month to follow.
The second attachment on this email is all about virtual parenting workshops – please do have a look at these as they provide helpful tips on managing children’s behaviour, toileting and supporting speech development.
I sent an email earlier in the week about plans for after half term so please check you have read that.
Wishing you all a happy weekend whatever you get up to.
Best wishes
Alex and all at Homerton
