We are heading for another really hot week so please put sunscreen on your children before they arrive at Homerton in the mornings and provide them with a sunhat. We will continue to give them lots of additional drinks through the day and keep them in the shady areas of the garden as much as we are able to.

Nightingale Park Trips

Please sign up on the sheets outside your classrooms, or speak to class staff, if you are able to help with these trips.

School transition visits and appointments

If your child is visiting their new school in the coming weeks please let class staff or the office know that they will be in later. Please also let us know by 10.30am if they will be needing a lunch on days when you arrive late.  Thank you.

Message from Headteacher

Dear Parents

A big thank you to all the parents who are helping out on our Nightingale Park trips. I went with South Room last week and we had a great time. The trip is very much an educational one with four rotating activities taking place in the beautiful garden. The activities are making a floral book mark, observational drawing of the pond area, where we saw snails, pond skaters, damsel flies and a variety of plants, a pictorial treasure hunt, and sharing a story about different environments whilst sitting under the willow dome and having a biscuit and a drink.  At the end of the session we gathered together to enjoy some additional drinks and snacks and sang some songs. The photos at the end of the bulletin today will give you more of a flavour of the outing.

On Wednesday at 11.00am and 2.30pm we have our Summer end of year celebration which I hope you will all be able to come along to. Please see suggested timings for your particular class in the dates for your diary section.

We are extremely lucky this year as we have a group of four professional musicians coming to play at the event.  A big thank you goes to Rachel who is Alfie’s Mum for organising this for us – I think it will be very special.

Bernie has recently attended a meeting where some very useful parenting support information was shared. Please have a look at the following www.oneplusone.org.uk They have online support courses on subjects such as communicating better with your partner, as well as how to support your children if you are experiencing financial or emotional difficulties. All the courses are free so do have a look if you would like to.

I have heard from a parent that the Solihull parenting courses, which I recently highlighted, are also excellent.

Our caterpillars are mainly at the chrysalis stage now, so we are eagerly awaiting the butterflies to emerge. Excitingly The Nest had their first one emerge this morning.

Medical Update:

Nothing in particular to report this week but please help us by keeping your children well hydrated first thing in the morning during this hot weather.

Some of our Learning this week

Most of the pictures today are from the Nightingale Park trip

West Room visited the Old Orchard garden and enjoyed making pictures using natural objects that they found in the garden

We continue to celebrate birthdays with some beautiful fruit based cakes – thank you to Leah’s Mum in East Room for making this one.

We are also enjoying shady experiences outside in the gardens – especially those involving water play

Our Nest children have been enjoying playing the feed the caterpillar game which follows the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which is our core book this term. They then chose to make their own stepping stone caterpillar using our different coloured spots to then jump along

Children have also enjoyed creating their own very individual butterflies to decorate the classrooms
