Message from the Head Teacher:
Dear Parents and Carers, We have had an exciting week here at Homerton celebrating Pancake Day, known in the Christian calendar as Shrove Tuesday. The Nest Yellow children also enjoyed a musical session in Rainbow room singing lots of action songs whilst Hyun-Mi played the piano. World Book day, and week, have been celebrated in different ways – thank you to parents for sending in your child’s favourite story to share with their class. On Wednesday, despite the wet weather, the Nursery children had a great session with our story teller Marion Leeper – more about this in our topic section.

Covid Update: Again we have had no cases this week which is great. Please continue to keep your children at home if unwell for the sake of others – Thank you.

Topic: Celebrating Stories
All the Nursery classes enjoyed hearing either the story of Chicken Licken, or the story of Magpie’s Nest. This was a really fun and interactive session and children were able to see all the bird puppets Marian had made, join in with lots of repeated phrases in the stories, hold a real blackbird’s nest, and then go and collect leaves and twigs in our old Orchard garden in order to make their own nests. |
Dates for your diary:
Weeks of 7th and 14th March – Parent Consultations
23rd March – Eggstravaganza this is a celebration of new life, for parents and children to enjoy together. It takes place in the garden for 15-30 minutes with your child at drop off time. The event is only taking place in the morning, so if your child is in East Blue group and usually starts with us on a Wednesday afternoon please bring them along in the morning for the Eggstravaganza, then return home and attend as usual for the afternoon session. Please put the date in your diaries. 30th March – Easter Raffle. Please can you donate an egg to our Easter Raffle – just give your donations to the person on the gate in the morning. Thank you

Reminders:
Parents Consultations for Nursery children only (Nest children have a parent consultation meeting when they come to their child’s 2 year check).
Sign-up sheets, with dates for you to book a 10 minute consultation with your class staff, are up outside classrooms. Consultations are taking place on the weeks beginning 7th and 14th March. If your appointment is on the evening of 9th March please can you wait outside the Centre on the green chairs and class staff will come to collect you for your appointment at the appropriate time.
Drop off time in the morning Please can you try and stick to the drop off times of 8.45-9.15 for the Nursery and 9.00-9.30 for the Nest. That would be much appreciated as it is often difficult for staff to leave what they are doing to collect children from the main entrance – Thank you.
Parenting Course We have a few spaces left on our fantastic parenting course which is running for 3 sessions – please attend all 3. It is on Tuesdays starting 15th,then 22nd and 29th March from 9.00-11.00am
