Message from the Head Teacher: This half term has gone past very quickly and been full of fun Summer activities. Today is also Mother’s Day in Poland so a very happy mother’s day to all our Polish mums.
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we had the addition of two froglets to our pond in the Nursery garden, brought in by Arthur in East Room, so we are hoping that in a couple of years we will have adult frogs and frogspawn again.
Arthur’s Dad also made the frogs a little ramp to get out of the pond when they need – a big thank you him.
Can you spot the froglet in this picture!
A special exit ramp for the frogs.

Covid Update: Please continue to support us in trying to limit the spread.
Chicken Pox: Chicken pox is very prevalent currently across the school, especially in West and East Rooms. Please look out for the signs of this and keep your child at home until their spots have scabbed over.
Sickness in the Nest: We continue to have sickness and diarrhoea in the Nest – please can you keep your child at home for a full 48 hours after they have had their last episode of sickness or diarrhoea, in order to prevent it spreading to other children and staff.

Topic: The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
Our main theme this week has been preparing for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee visit that took place yesterday. The children all made crowns and flags to wave when she arrived at Homerton.
Making flags and crowns ready for the visit of the royal guests.
Prince Charles, Camilla and Princess Anne also accompanied the Queen on her visit – A big thank you to Roy, Suzy and Mitali who took on these roles.
The children heard the story ‘The Queen’s Hat’ by Steve Antony, and enjoyed special Jubilee cakes.
Here are lots of photos for you, and your children, to enjoy…do ask them to tell you the story of the hat and it’s adventures across London landmarks.
Events and Outings
15th June – Claytime – A story session, which involves children making up a story and our two clay artists, Sally and Steve, modelling clay props for it. The children then have the opportunity to make their own models.
We are thinking ahead and planning outings for the children in the Nursery classes to go to Nightingale park. These trips can only go ahead if we have enough parent volunteers so please put the following dates in your diaries if you are able to help:- 21st June – West room am 22nd June – East Room am and pm 24th June – South Room am
Unfortunately if your child has a sibling who needs to stay with you then you will not be able to volunteer, as we need to stick to strict ratios for outings. Each parent will be allocated either one or two children, from the class, to look after on the outing.
The NEST are planning a trip to the allotment on the mornings of :- Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th June – again these trips can only go ahead if we have enough parent volunteers so please let the Nest staff know if you can help and put the dates in your diaries. |

Reminders/Requests:
Holiday Club Holiday club is running in May half term from Monday 30th -Wednesday 1st June. The Thursday and Friday of that week are Public Holidays for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Bookings for holiday club need to be with Mel by Monday 23rd May.
School name labels fundraiser If you happen to be buying name labels for your child’s clothes, then a company called Stikins https://www.stikins.co.uk/will donate a percentage of the price paid to Homerton if you quote our fundraising number, which is 32197.
Sunglasses, Suncream and Sunhats Please can we request that you don’t send your child to school with sunglasses unless they are prescription sunglasses. The reason for this is glasses can get lost or broken very easily, instead please send your child in a named sunhat, and put suncream on them at home before attending Homerton.
Hannah’s last week at Homerton Hannah Golden, our fantastic PGCE student, who is working in East Room, is leaving us on Friday 10th June. I am sure you will want to join me in thanking her for all she has done for Homerton children over the past 9 weeks on placement.
What’s On Please find the latest What’s On attached which may give you some ideas for the half term.
