Reminders and Requests

Class trips to Nightingale Park during the weeks beginning 19th June and 26th June.

Sign-up sheets are up outside the classrooms for parent helpers to volunteer to come on the trips. We are hoping that as we have given lots of notice many of you will be able to come along for this fun educational event. The trips will all take place in the mornings, but we can only go ahead with these trips if we have enough parent and carer support for each morning session (each parent helper will be allocated children to look after, so can we request that you don’t bring younger siblings). Please put the dates below in your diaries and let class staff know if you are able to help.

Tuesday 20th June am – South Room

Wednesday 21st June am – East Room

Thursday 22nd June am – West Room

Wednesday 28th June am – The Nest

Friday 30th  June am – The Nest

Thank you

Staffing for September 2023

We are currently advertising for Teaching Assistants to work 1:1, or with small groups, for September.  If anyone is interested in this post please talk to me, or look at the website, for more information. The closing date is Monday 5th June 23.

We are also looking for lunch staff if anyone is interested in this role – you need to be available for at least 2 days a week 11.30am -1.00pm.

Message from the Head Teacher:

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you to everyone who attended our Maths workshop on Tuesday– it was such an informative evening and a very big thank you to Mitali, our East Room teacher, for leading this session.  I do hope you all enjoyed it.

East Room children exploring shape and pattern making

Now that the weather is improving children are choosing to spend more time outside, so please can you apply sun cream at the start of the day, and provide a sunhat for them to wear.  For those children who stay with us all day we can re-apply sun cream after lunch.

I also wanted to thank all of you for your support this half of term, which has been busy with so many varied activities for the children. Yesterday we had a lot of fun doing the Really Wheelie Trail – please see the pictures under the learning section. Your generosity in raising sponsorship funds towards a defibrillator for the Centre is very much appreciated. I am hoping we will be able to get one fairly soon.

I also wanted to let West Room parents know that our fantastic trainee, Bea

is only going to be with us for one more week after half term.  Bea has been a very creative teacher trainee, and the children have had a lot of fun trying out a variety of activities with her, including making fossils and enjoying a Teddy Bear’s picnic this week. Bea will soon be starting a job at Shelford Primary School, and I am sure you will join me in thanking her, and wishing her well in her teaching career.

Covid/Medical Update: No special medical issues to report this week.
Some of our Learning this week

There have been a wide variety of activities taking place around the Centre this week and here are just a few photos to show some of them…

South Room children have been developing their spreading skills whilst

making healthy snacks with rice cakes, cream cheese and cucumber

West Room made their own fossils by using salt dough imprinted with different creatures

The Nest have been learning about Greece this week.  They have done a variety of activities including looking at and making the Greek flag, and cutting up fruit for a healthy greek yoghurt fruit salad.

The Nest have also been mixing up different potions

Really Wheelie event

Here are some pictures from our Really Wheelie event yesterday. The children were cheered on by their friends, and everyone had a lot of fun. Thank you to all our parents and volunteers and especially our parent governors, Isa and Stefania, for running the event.
