Our raffle prizes
Please bring some money on Wednesday 29th March if you would like the chance of winning one of our fantastic Easter Raffle prizes. A big thank you to Tracey, and her sister Sharon, for wrapping them all so beautifully for us, and to all of you for donating items for them.
Birthday sharing suggestion for the class
If your child has a birthday here and you would like them to celebrate with something special from home, then perhaps you would like to buy a book as a gift for the whole class to share, or bring in a more exotic fruit for the children to try as a treat. We are a health promoting school so these ideas are just ideas to help to reduce additional sugar levels in young children.
Waterproof trousers for wet weather
It is really helpful to us if children can have a pair of elasticated waterproof trousers for the wet weather as they absolutely love going out in their wellies and jumping in puddles!
Breakfast club families
Please can we request that you bring your children down to Rainbow Room for breakfast once you are buzzed in to the Centre. This will help us as then both members of the breakfast staff team can stay with the children at all times.
|Message from the Head Teacher:
Thank you to all of you who came and braved this morning’s Eggstravaganza event in the rain. I hope everyone enjoyed it and learnt something about lifecycles and creatures that do or don’t lay eggs. We are hoping that once the weather warms up the frogs will be laying some real frog spawn in our pond. Please see photos of today’s event under the learning section.
I also wanted to thank you for all your generosity last week. The final figure for last week’s cake sale was an amazing £549.00.
There are also photos as the end of the bulletin of Irish dancing – Bernie’s niece Molly kindly came in and showed the children how to Irish dance, and some of the classes have been learning some Irish dance steps during their weekly physical session in the Rainbow Room.
A parent Nelin’s Mum from the Nest also came in last week to celebrate the Persian Spring festival of Nowruz with the children. We love having parents coming in to celebrate festivals with us, and children and staff learn so much from this. Please speak to class staff if you would like to come in and talk about a particular cultural event, or share a story in your language with your child’s class.
Next week is the last week of term and we will be celebrating Easter with the children by singing some songs about eggs, chicks, frogs and bunnies as well as trying hot cross buns. This event is just for children and will take place during their session on Wednesday.
Finally I would like to send best wishes to those families celebrating Ramadan which is due to start in the next day or two.
|Covid/Medical Update: Nothing in particular this week apart from the usual coughs, colds and temperatures.|
|Some of our Learning this week
St Patrick’s Day celebration and Irish dancing show– thank you Molly and Bernie for organising these events.
Nowruz celebrations in the Nest – thank you to Nelin’s Mum for sharing this festival with us.
Richard, our Teacher trainee in the Nest, has been teaching the children all about his guitar and then playing for them.
The following photos are all from today’s Eggstravaganza which aims to teach children all about different creatures past and present that lay or don’t lay eggs! The dinosaurs in the sandpit and guess what is going to come out of the mystery egg are always very popular with the children!
Best wishes from
Alex and all the Homerton staff
