Message from the Head Teacher:
Dear Parents Welcome back to the Summer Term, which is full of lots of fun events, for the children. One of these is our ‘Bear Hunt’ story trail for families around the garden on 14th May. ‘We’re all Going on a Bear Hunt’, by Michael Rosen, is our core book for this half term so children will be getting to know the story really well and having the opportunity to enjoy acting it out together. The story is brilliant for developing children’s language.
Our school photographer, Helen Alderton, will also be visiting this term on the 13th, 14th and 15th May. She will be taking individual and class group photos which you will be able to buy directly from her website if you wish to.
On the 21st May we are hoping to have a fun physical activity event known as ‘The Really Wheelie Trail’ around the Nursery garden for both The Nest and Nursery children. We will need some parent volunteers for this event, which takes place in the morning from around 9.15am-10.30am, so if you are able to help please let me, or your class staff, know.
During the Summer Term we are also hoping to do some allotment visits with the children, so if you would like to help with these please let the class staff know.
Thank you very much to everyone for making our Easter Raffle such a success. We raised over £330 which will be used both for garden planting activities, and for buying each child a book as a leaving present at the end of the year.
Just before the end of term we had a lovely singing session in the garden for the children, so I thought you might like to see a few photos from that – We even had a real humpty dumpty egg who fell off the wall!
Pictures from our Easter singing event – with a real Humpty Dumpty egg, will it break?

Medical Update: There has been a case of headlice reported in The Nest. Whether your child is in The Nest, or Nursery, it is a good idea to check their hair on a regular weekly basis for headlice, as they can spread very easily in young children. The best way of preventing headlice is to buy a nit comb and comb through your child’s hair once you have applied conditioner. The fine teeth of the comb will then catch any lice or eggs that there may be. |
Some of the Learning this week –
Here are some pictures of fun activities based around Easter which we did with the children just before the end of term.
Children in The Nest played hunt the egg amongst the Spring flowers
They also enjoyed developing their bat and ball skills
Singing Sleeping Bunnies
And making a quick snack in the Mud Kitchen
Before some parachute play
Children followed a recipe card to make chocolate crispy cakes
And then did some sack races in the Rainbow Room, and egg and spoon race in the garden
