Homerton Early Years Centre – Weekly Bulletin

20th October 2022

Message from the Head Teacher: Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for your help in getting children settled into Homerton this half of term.  Just a quick reminder that next week is half term.  If your child is booked into Holiday club it runs Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. Please come to the main entrance by the office to drop off and pick up. Thank you to Mel, Bridget, and all the staff who are helping to run the club this half term.

Monday 31st October the Centre is also closed for a staff training day on Outdoor Learning and Performance Management. The Centre re-opens as normal on Tuesday 1st November.

We have a few exciting events in the week we return which are a mini fireworks display, just for the children, during their session on 2nd November.  This is a chance for us to talk about firework safety for ourselves and our pets.

On 4th November Messy play starts in the Rainbow Room.  This is a drop in group for parents and toddlers running 9.30am-10.45am. It costs £3.00 per family, so please bring the correct money in cash, if you are coming.  Entry is via the main entrance at the office.

If you are planning to have personalised Christmas cards or mugs via our Cauliflower cards fundraiser then the artwork needs to be back to us by Tuesday 1st November.

Covid/Medical Update: I am pleased to say that so far I haven’t heard of any Covid cases in the Centre.

Threadworm – Please be aware there has been a case of Threadworm in the Nest

Some of the Learning this week

As I mentioned last week some classes have been visiting the allotment to collect the pumpkins, children continued to have fun being creative with conker rolling in paint. The Nest in particular has been celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, which is on 25th October, with help from Anmay’s Mum – a big thank you to her.

Please see the selection of photos below for just a few of the activities in classes this week.
