Wednesday 21st June am and pm – East Room

Thursday 22nd June am – West Room

Wednesday 28th June am – The Nest

Friday 30th  June am – The Nest

Tuesday 4th July am – South Room Trip to Nightingale Park

Please can we request that on the day your child’s class goes to Nightingale Park you arrive by 9.10am.  Parent volunteers please also arrive by 9.10am and class staff will run through all the information you will need for the trip.

Please remember to apply sunscreen on the morning and provide a hat and appropriate clothing for whatever the weather is that day, including raincoats if they are likely to be needed.   Children will also need to wear comfortable shoes for walking – socks and trainers are probably best. Thank you

Sun cream application request

Please remember to apply sun cream for your child daily first thing in the morning now that it is warming up and UV levels are high.

Parking

Thank you to everyone who is making the effort to park a little further away and not on our yellow lines. The reason we request this is for the safety of all the children.  When the entrances are clear children can easily see the road and whether it is safe to cross. If cars are parked on the yellow lines then their view is blocked which is dangerous for them.

Shoes

Please can your children wear shoes such as sandals with supportive straps or trainers when at Homerton as these make it much easier for them to run and climb. Please can we request no crocs or flip-flops.

Message from the Head Teacher:

Dear Parents and Carers

In the next couple of weeks we are going on lots of trips to Nightingale Park.  Unfortunately, South Room’s trip this morning was cancelled, due to the weather and it is re-scheduled for Tuesday 4th July.

We are hoping for better weather tomorrow and Thursday.  When your child goes on their trip please do provide them with a raincoat and comfortable shoes that they can easily walk in as it is quite a distance from the Centre to Nightingale Park. Trainers are probably the best footwear if they have them.

On the trip we will provide children with a biscuit and drink.

We are also hoping that our butterfly eggs will arrive soon so that the children can have the opportunity to watch the life cycle of a butterfly before the end of term.

Our potatoes are also growing well and in the next couple of weeks classes will be digging out there pots to see just how many have grown from the 3 seed potatoes that were originally planted by the classes in a pot.

We are continuing to have visits from Reception class teachers from the schools where children in the Nursery will be going in September.  It is lovely to share with these teachers the many achievements and accomplishments made by children during their time here.

Covid/Medical Update: No special medical issues to report this week.

Some of our Learning this week

I spent some time both yesterday and today seeing what the children were up to out in the garden areas. What really struck me is how independent they have become in their play both individually, and in small friendship groups.  I hope you will enjoy the photos below showing them choosing their own activities, engaging with each other and familiar adults, and generally enjoying challenging themselves whilst also exploring the environment and socialising with friends.
