| Message from the Head Teacher:
Dear Parents
This week we have been focusing on ‘Once Upon a Time’ stories and storytelling. Our core book, as you know, is ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. During this half term we also introduce children to many other tales including some real favourites such as ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and ‘The Gingerbread Man’. These stories all provide the opportunity for children to become familiar with the structure of stories having a beginning, middle and end, with a range of characters, both good and bad. These stories also have repetitive language, so children can learn them quickly, and start to chant them from memory. The pictures at the start of the ‘Learning this Week’, section are of children enjoying listening to, and then roleplaying, the stories themselves.
Next week we are going to be looking forward to Chinese/Lunar New Year and Davina, our music teacher, and the classes will be planning some activities focusing on music and dance relating to the Lunar New Year.
Follow up on absences The Local Authority have advised that schools should be following up immediately on any children’s absences. Please could we request that you either ring, or email the office, by 10am if your child is not going to be in the Centre on any particular day, whether this is because they are ill, too tired to attend or on holiday.
Teaching Self Help Skills We are currently trying to teach our children how to blow their noses by holding a tissue over the nose and blowing out. If you are able to help them learn this valuable skill at home, alongside our work here, then that would be much appreciated.
Holiday Club Please can you remember to book your children into Holiday Club if you are going to need this during the half term week.
