Message from the Head Teacher:

Dear Parents

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Communication, Language and Literacy workshop last night.  I hope you found it informative and went away with some ideas to try at home. Thank you to Jacqui for planning and running the workshop for us. I shall send out the workshop slides, and link to the teaching of phonic letter sounds that you may find useful, in a separate email.

Today Daddy Bear greeted children at the Nursery entrance and he and the other staff have had a lot fun acting out the Goldilocks story for all the children.  Please see the photos at the end of the bulletin to get a flavour of the event – do show them to your children.  We have all been enjoying sharing children’s favourite stories this week in preparation for World Book Day, which is tomorrow. By now, your child should have received a book token to exchange at supermarkets, or bookshops, for one of the World Book Day stories.

Our language of the half term is Italian and I am attaching some ideas and a recipe for you to try out at home with your children.  Thank you Liz and Stefania for providing ideas for the information sheet. Davide’s Mum in West Room also made some delicious Italian biscuits last week when she came in to talk to the children about Carnevale.

Over the next couple of weeks our learning focus is particularly on life cycles and we have some hens eggs and an incubator being delivered to the Centre on Monday.  Children can then have the magical experience of watching the eggs crack open and chicks appearing and growing. The eggs will be in the Library area so do come and have a look with your children if you would like to at the beginning, or end, of the sessions.

We have a Faculty of Education teacher trainee, Beatrice, is joining the West Room staff team from Monday for the rest of this term, and most of the Summer Term.  Please do introduce yourself to her when you drop off in the mornings.

Cake Sale – Wednesday 15th March

We are planning to have a fund raising cake stall on the 15th March with some of the funds going towards the Turkish earthquake appeal.  If any of our families have been particularly affected by these events please let us know, so we can support you and your children.

Covid/Medical Update: We continue to have a lot of coughs and colds so thank you for your support in not spreading these by keeping your children off if unwell.
