Class Trips to Nightingale Park, we need volunteers on the following days so please can you let class staff know if you can help with these dates below – Thank you.

Tuesday 23^rd June 9.30am-11.30am – West Room (full time and beginning of week children)

Wednesday 24^th June 9.30am-11.30am – East Room

Thursday 25^th June 9.30am-11.30am – West Room (full time and end of week children)

Tuesday 30^th June 9.30-11.30am South

Nest trips are taking place on Wednesday 1^st and Friday 3^rd July

Other dates

Monday 15^th June – Caterpillars arrive and we watch them turn into beautiful butterflies over the coming weeks as part of our work on understanding Life Cycle

Wednesday 15th July – Summer Celebration and Goodbye event for parents and children.  Parents are welcome to attend at either 11.00am or 2.30pm (depending on when your child attends). We suggest  11.00am for our Nest children as they tend to rest in the afternoons.

Friday 17^th July – End of Term

Monday 20th-Wednesday 22^nd July inclusive – Whole Centre is closed

Thursday 23^rd July – Friday 14^th August Summer Holiday club runs. Forms for this will be emailed out by Mel later on this week

Nightingale Park Trips

Sign-up sheets will be up outside the classrooms for parent/carer helpers to volunteer to come on the Nightingale Park trips. We are hoping that as we have given lots of notice many of you will be able to come along for this fun educational event. The trips will all take place in the mornings, but we can only go ahead with these trips if we have enough parent and carer support for each morning session, (each parent helper will be allocated children to look after, so I am afraid you cannot bring younger siblings). Please put the dates above in your diaries and let class staff know if you are able to help.

I hope you all had a good half term.  We have a busy term ahead with lots of fun activities including a visit from a Folk band called ‘Megson Music’, who are here on Wednesday to do the first of two concerts. They have received an Arts Council grant to deliver music to local schools, so we are very lucky to have been successful in our application for them to come to us.

Below is a message I received from their lead singer

‘If you would like to play some of our songs before we arrive then you can find our Childrens songs on Spotify / Apple Music etc. If you look for Megson and then the albums ‘When I Was a Lad’ and ‘Red Bird’

Some of the songs we will play the children will include Red Bird / Little Bird / All Around the Kitchen.

In the coming weeks we have caterpillars arriving so we are able to observe first hand the lifecycle of the butterfly.

We also have trips to Nightingale Park for each class towards the end of June.

A number of teachers visit, from local primary schools, to meet the children who will be coming to them in September.  Our Nest children also visit the Nursery classes, and gardens, on a regular basis so that they feel confident coming into the Nursery in September.

This term we are lucky to have quite a number of work experience students with us from secondary schools and sixth form colleges, so you may well hear about them from your children.

Our Holiday club was popular over the half term and children seem to have had a lovely time. Thank you to Melody, and her team for running this for us and surviving the hottest of weeks.

Many of the activities during the week revolved around water play and the paddling pool and hose were used regularly. Children also really enjoyed doing some face painting.

I think by now you will have received proof copies of your child’s Homerton photos taken by Helen Alderton.  Please remember to order your photos directly from Helen Alderton if you would like to have any.

All the photos today are from our Really Wheelie trail which took place just before half term – many thanks to all the parents who helped to make this event such a success. The children had a lot of fun whizzing around the garden. If you would like to make a donation, following this event, then please send payment in the usual way. We plan to use any money raised towards paying for replacement garden equipment as some of our wooden toys and benches are starting to look very worn.
