Message from the Head Teacher:

Dear Parents

Next week on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th February we are lucky enough to have The Life Education Bus based in our car park. Children will visit the bus in small groups, with their class staff, over these two days. They will be learning about their bodies and how to keep them healthy through sleep, healthy eating, and exercise.  There is also a very good presentation on teeth cleaning from Harold the Giraffe!

Parents are also welcome to come and visit the bus after dropping off their children, or before picking them up, at the beginning or end of the day.

Parents can visit the bus at either 8.45-9.15am, or 3.30-3.45pm, on 8th February or 8.45-9.15am on 9th February.

The bus is provided by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Education Authority, but it is your parental contributions that have paid for the visit to us, so thank you all.

A big thank you also to parents who have been coming into class and sharing stories or festivals with the children at Circle times. The pictures below are of Asher’s mum who talked all about Chinese New Year and showed the children how to make hanging decorations.

Covid/Medical Update: Covid and other flu like illnesses continue to be with us, so please keep your children at home if they are unwell.  We have also had a few cases of chickenpox recently.
Some of our Learning this week

The children have enjoyed role-playing the story of Goldilocks in the Rainbow Room and in the classes.  They have also been very enthusiastic about making and eating porridge, which has smelt and tasted so delicious.

The Nest had a lot of fun making a Chinese dragon in traditional colours with cardboard boxes, which then became a prop for their dances. Children have also been practising their writing of symbols.

Other creative projects have been taking place with adults helping to draw around the outline of the child. The children have then been painting and cutting out the image. Activities such as this, lead to lots of discussion about size of the children, different body parts and how to best look after ourselves.

This week children have also been learning about how to look after our natural world by planting and watering bulbs.

Best wishes

Alex and all at Homerton
