| Message from the Head Teacher:
Dear Parents
The children have all so enjoyed The Bear Hunt activities this half term so I thought you might also enjoy recapping the story with them by sharing this visual vocabulary sheet together.
We’re going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen At the beginning of the story a family set off confidently to hunt for a bear and on their way they have to push through a field of grass , wade though a river , squelch through mud , stumble through a forest and find their way through a snowstorm before they discover a cave with a bear and rush home , not feeling quite so brave.
Thank you for coming on the bear hunt with us last week J
Hong Lele taking a rest after a busy circle time!
The Nursery classes have all being doing work on what is known as the ‘Safety Circle’. This is an adult led activity where children work with the class staff thinking about who the safe people are that they can rely on to help them both at home and in Nursery. Hong LeLe, who is a ‘persona doll’, has also visited the classes, to help explain who helped him find his lost teddy recently.
Hong LeLe has an ‘All about me book’ which is shared with the children on his first visit to the children’s classes. He is 4 years old, 100cms tall, has black hair and eyes. His favourite animal is a panda and his favourite colour is red, like many children his age he has a fascination with dinosaurs, and he loves visiting the train museum. He lives with his Mum, Dad and 2 year old sister, Hong Lili. He speaks both Chinese and English and goes to a Kung Fu class. His favourite time of year is Chinese New Year when he and his family enjoy lots of celebrations.
Helen, our school photographer, has let me know that she will have photos ready on her website for you to order after the half term break. I had a sneak preview last week of some of the pictures taken and they really captured the fun of ‘The Bear Hunt’ and the many activities children enjoy in our gardens.

| Medical Update: Nothing in particular to report this week, but we do have a request that you don’t put sun cream into children’s bags.
We apply sensitive skin sunscreen, provided by the Centre, to all children before they go out in the garden just after lunch. If for a particular reason your child needs to bring their own sunscreen then please can you put their name on the bottle and give it to class staff first thing in the morning. |
| Some of the Learning this week
The children in the Nest enjoyed dressing up and role play together
They also sang and then drew some familiar rhymes and songs using chalks on our wipe clean cloth
South Room were doing some acting of their ‘Helicopter stories’
Whilst in West our builders were making models using our magnetic construction sets
And also cutting and sticking using resources from our making trolley
East Room have been dodging the showers whilst learning all about planting and growing at the allotment
The Nest have been looking at their baby photos and identifying their friends from the photos of them as babies.
They went on to use non-standard measuring construction toys to see the height of the baby, and themselves, in order to see how much they have grown since being born.
