| Dates for your diary:
Next week is the start of our class trips to Nightingale Park, so if you are able to volunteer and haven’t yet had a chance to sign up then please look at the times below and chat to class staff about signing up. The trips are really fun, both for children and adults, so do come along if you can. Thank you.
Tuesday 23rd June 9.30am-11.30am – West Room (full time and beginning of week children) Wednesday 24th June 9.30am-11.30am – East Room Thursday 25th June 9.30am-11.30am – West Room (full time and end of week children) Tuesday 30th June 9.30-11.30am South
Nest trips are taking place on Wednesday 1st and Friday 3rd July
Other dates Wednesday 15th July – Summer Celebration and Goodbye event for parents and children. Parents are welcome to attend at either 11.00am or 2.30pm (depending on when your child attends). We suggest 11.00am for our Nest children as they tend to rest, or have a quieter time, in the afternoons. Friday 17th July – End of Term Monday 20th-Wednesday 22nd July inclusive – Whole Centre is closed Thursday 23rd July – Friday 14th August Summer Holiday club runs. Forms for this will be emailed out by Mel later on this week

| Reminders and Requests:
Bringing clothes for all weathers to school please Please can you continue to send your children in to school prepared for whatever weather we may have ie please bring a coat on a daily basis and a sunhat, as sometimes a day can have both hot sun and rain showers. As this week is much hotter please apply sunscreen in the mornings before school starts.

Dear Parents
Our three work experience students are with us this week and next. They are all from Sawston Village College and have settled in very well. It is great to have them here to be able to help with our Nightingale Park trips.
Your children will probably have told you that the caterpillars have also arrived and we are enjoying looking at them at Circle times as they grow and follow their lifecycle turning into cocoons and then beautiful butterflies. The story of their development and lifecycle is beautifully told in our final Core Book of the year which is ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle. Please see the vocabulary sheet below which you can enjoy sharing with your children. years. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle This half term our core story is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle – a book that tells the story of a caterpillar’s journey to become a butterfly. It includes wonderful opportunities for counting and a lovely transformation at the end of the book. After a little caterpillar hatches out of his egg, he starts to
look for some food in the sunshine. On Monday he tries 1 apple but is
still hungry. On Tuesday he tries 2 pears. On Wednesday he eats 3 plums
and on Thursday he has 4 strawberries . On Friday he eats through 5 oranges
but every day he is still hungry! On Saturday he eats all sorts of food …..
but then he feels sick!!! On Sunday he finds a nice green
leaf to eat, feels much better and grows into a big caterpillar. Then he spins himself a
home called a cocoon and after 2 weeks he grows into a beautiful butterfly!
The Hungry Caterpillar “Story Sacks” are now in the library for you to borrow & enjoy at home. If you would like to do so then please sign a sack out in the green “Library Loans Record” folder in the library. There are also copies in the classroom which you are welcome to borrow. This Thursday we have our second Folk Concert from Megson which we are really looking forward to.

| Some of our Learning this week
Children have been enjoying so many varied activities recently, in particular our Nest children enjoyed making smoothies and our Nursery classes continued to visit the allotment. I hope you enjoy looking at all the photos below.
Using stencils with water spray in the Homerton garden has been this week’s garden focus for the children
The Very Hungry Caterpillar has been enjoyed by all the children and lots of activities have stemmed from this story
Children continued to visit the allotment and have been tasting mint leaves and planting up a wheelbarrow
Our Nest children have also enjoyed making and trying fruit smoothies
