Message from the Head Teacher: Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you very much for bringing in leaves, conkers and other natural objects reflecting this Autumn season. The children in the classes have been talking about the seasons and having fun rolling conkers in paint to make a colourful picture, whilst also exploring colour mixing.

Open Days for Primary Schools Even though your children are only just starting the year with us many of our local primary schools are holding open afternoons and evenings for you to go and have a look around their Reception classes ready for children to start Primary school in September 2023. Please see the posters displayed outside our office entrance for more information on dates and times of open days for our local schools.
Messy Play I am very pleased to be able to let you know that we are re-starting our Messy Play parent and toddler group here at Homerton on Friday mornings 9.30am-10.45am, after half term. The first session is on 4th November. Please come to the main Homerton entrance past the office, and ask for Rainbow Room. Messy Play is being run by our fantastic parent governors, Stefania and Isa, so thank you to them. Please do come along to this very informal group if you would like to – it is a great opportunity to make new friends.
Japanese Playgroup Masami Rogers, who is one of our Japanese members of staff, has also asked me to mention that for Japanese families there is a Japanese playgroup running on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, in term time from 10.15-12.00am, at Queen Edith’s Chapel. There is a poster about the group displayed on the office door and at the gates.
Cauliflower Cards Christmas Fundraiser This week you will have received your art design sheet for Cauliflower Cards. Please can you fill in the order form for the products you wish to purchase on-line and return the original art work sheet to us here at Homerton by Tuesday 1st November.

Topic Autumn and the allotment
A big thank you goes to our allotment team of Stella, Kate and Fran, who do a wonderful job of maintaining and growing fruit and vegetables on our allotment plot. The photos below show some of the things that have been growing this Summer and Autumn. Classes like to visit the allotment, but we are reliant on parent volunteers to go on these trips. Please talk to your class staff team if you are able to volunteer for an allotment visit next week, when we are hoping to go and collect the enormous pumpkins, and bring them back to Homerton, ready for carving them out. We will also be sharing the book Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper, with the children in the coming weeks.
