Message from the Head Teacher:
Dear Parents and Carers, It has been another busy week for us here at Homerton and half term seems to have come around very quickly. Thank you to our staff who are running the holiday club which children really enjoy…I think Mel, Bridget and Laura have lots of exciting activities planned.
I thought you might enjoy seeing a few pictures of general free play activities that have taken place this week, as well as some more specific adult led focuses.
Some of the Nest children visited the park next door and had fun climbing and sliding down some of the larger equipment. Heather made the perfect playdough, I found out that South Room children are great cake and hot dog makers! East Room and every class enjoyed stories on the sofa, and our Nest children got on their tummies to study a ladybird who had braved coming out in this warmer weather.

Covid Update: It has been lovely to have Laura and Liz from South Room back with us today. We are hoping that our Covid cases may be declining – we have only had one case reported to us this week which was in the Nest. Please continue to let us know if your child tests positive.

Celebrations for Lunar New Year continued and Dong taught the children to write the numerals 1-5 in Chinese.
We also had a visit from our specialist support teacher, Victoria North, who came to do a ‘Sing and Sign’ session in West Room. This followed on from our Makaton training earlier in the term. The children have really learnt a lot of signs now and use them regularly in class as a fun and effective way of communicating.
Jacqui has recorded the Goldilocks story – so you may enjoy watching this over half term with your children please use the link below – thank you Jacqui.

Dates for your diary:
· Holiday club for those booked in runs 14th-18th February · Term restarts on 21st February

Reminders:
Headlice There have been a couple of children with headlice in the Centre. The best way to prevent the spread, as children tend to put their heads close to each other, is to check your child’s hair regularly, treat it and use a nit comb to comb it through.
Parents Consultations for Nursery children only (Nest children have a parent consultation meeting when they come to their child’s 2 year check).
Sign-up sheets, with dates for you to book a 10 minute consultation with your class staff, will be up after half term. Consultations are taking place on the weeks beginning 7th and 14th March. We are really pleased that the plan is to have these meetings face to face in the Centre, rather than via zoom.

Wishing you all a very happy Half Term and holiday club if your child is here for that.
Best wishes
Alex Pearson
