Homerton Early Years Centre – Bulletin

27 January 2022

Message from Alex:

We are trying out a different format for our Weekly Bulletin so do let me know if you prefer it presented this way.

I am pleased to say despite the on-going staffing challenges presented by Covid 19 we have continued to offer many lovely activities across the Centre for the children, who have adapted well to any staff changes.

Please see the list below under class activities and photos and have a look at your classroom windows for the ‘Learning this Week’ in your child’s individual rooms.

Next week is ‘The Big Garden Birdwatch’ so we have put up a birdfeeder in the main garden and hope to help children identify some of the birds that visit over the coming days.

I am also attaching the ‘What’s On’ for you to look at and see if there are any activities you would like to get involved in.

Covid Update: In the past two weeks we have had 7 members of staff with Covid and 16 children. Your support in doing Lateral Flow tests has been much appreciated. It has been great to welcome back our West Room team of Jacqui, Dong and Kate. They have been explaining to the children why they have been off – as some children thought they were just off on holiday! I am hopeful that Covid has now peaked within our community and things can return to normal soon. Please continue to keep your children at home if they are at all unwell.

Some Class Activity Highlights and Photos from the week

West Room – Planting some bulbs and making lego models.

East Room – Cereal tasting, following on from our Goldilocks  porridge making.  They have also been doing music themed circle times with bells.

South Room – Making a 3d dragon in preparation for Lunar New Year and enjoying the Vets roleplay.

The Nest – Cooking and making chocolate playdough, music and movement sessions in our Rainbow Room to a CD called ‘Sticky Kids’, as well as continuing to enjoy the roleplaying the Goldilocks theme with masks.
