Dear Parents and Carers,
Hope you have all had a lovely half term enjoying the Autumn sunshine. The children have come back very happily. They have been very excited today about our Homerton Fireworks display. The display is very low key with quieter fireworks, but provides a good opportunity to talk about safety and children usually enjoy this shared event which takes place in our garden during the session.
Another event this week is that we have a new catering company called ‘Dolce’, who have taken over from Cambridge Catering Services. So far they have provided very delicious fresh meals cooked by Angela, who has worked very hard to ensure it has been a success.
Below are the usual diary date reminders and there are also some attachments to read about applying for Reception places and getting a flu spray for your child.
Diary date reminders
Wednesday 31st Oct – Fireworks for the nursery school children (a few children may visit from The Nest), this event takes place during the day and is just for children and staff.
Wednesday 7th Nov 7.30-8.45pm – Parents Evening for all Nest and Nursery parents with a presentation on Playing and Learning at Homerton. The presentation will be at 7.30-7.45 pm in the Rainbow Room, followed by visits to classes to talk to your class staff from 7.45-8.45pm.
Wednesday 14th Nov – Fun run and cake stall at drop off time. We are planning a quick run round the park for parents, and children, followed by the opportunity to buy a cake! This is as a joint fundraiser for Homerton and Children in Need. Please could you bake cakes for the Cake stall that week.
Wednesday 5th Dec – Raffle – we are starting to collect prizes for the raffle in the black box at the entrance – if you wanted to put something in to the box that would be very much appreciated.
Wednesday 5th Dec – Xmas story trail in the garden at either 8.45 or 12.45. This is a lovely event for parents and children to enjoy together and usually takes about 20 minutes from your usual drop off time. More information to follow.
- We are still looking for parent volunteers to organise ‘Whatsapp’ groups for South Room and the Nest classes …so if that is something you would like to get involved in doing please let your class staff know.
- Tracey, in the office has sent out information about Rudolph cards – if you would like your child to make your Christmas card please could you get their design back to Tracey for the 7th November so she can send these off for printing.
Best wishes
Alex and all the Homerton Staff
