| Dates for your diary:
Nest trips are taking place on Wednesday 1st and Friday 3rd July Nursery trips to Nightingale park are as follows:- South Room -Tuesday 30th June am West Room – Thursday 2nd July am we are now doing one trip only for all the West children East Room – Wednesday 8th July am
Other dates Wednesday 15th July – Summer Celebration and Goodbye event for parents and children. Parents are welcome to attend at either 11.00am or 2.30pm (depending on when your child attends). We suggest 11.00am for our Nest children as they tend to rest, or have a quieter time, in the afternoons. Friday 17th July – End of Term Monday 20th-Wednesday 22nd July inclusive – Whole Centre is closed Thursday 23rd July – Friday 14th August Summer Holiday club runs. |
| Reminders and Requests:
Sunscreen and Hats Now that the weather is getting warmer and UV levels are much higher please can we request that all children have sun cream applied first thing in the morning before coming to Homerton, and that they come with a named sunhat to go on their pegs. Could we also request that children have an extra drink at breakfast so they are well hydrated for the day ahead.
Nightingale Park Trips Please sign up on the sheets outside your classrooms, or speak to class staff, if you are able to help with these trips – please note some amended dates above for East and West Room.
Parking plea Thank you to everyone who is parking considerately, we have noticed that there are still a number of cars at drop off and pick up across driveways, so PLEASE can you allow extra time so that you have time to park with more consideration for our neighbours, thank you.
Nest Gates Please can you help us to keep all the children safe here at Homerton by making sure you close and bolt the Nest gates after picking up your child. Thank you

| Message from Headteacher
Dear Parents
The hot weather we are experiencing can present quite a challenge for young children. We are trying our best to ensure everyone stays well hydrated through the day and introducing as much water and shaded play as possible. We will be taking plenty of water and biscuits on our Nightingale Park trips in order that children maintain energy levels. The activities at Nightingale include making a sticky floral book mark, sharing the story ‘Walking through the Jungle’ which provides opportunities to talk about different environments, doing some observational drawing, and following a pictorial treasure hunt. We are also looking for butterflies, which ties in well with our caterpillar theme back at Homerton. Each class has caterpillars in a special net in the classroom and the children enjoy looking at their growth daily.
As many of you will know tomorrow is sadly Hannah’s last day in East Room. She has an up-coming operation. A huge thank you goes to Hannah for all she has done for Homerton children, and staff, as she always brings such joy and positivity to all she does. We all wish her well with her operation and recovery and hope to see her back here when she is ready.
At our recent Governor Curriculum meeting we discussed our ‘Play Policy’ so I am attaching it to the bulletin so you can see our approach to play at Homerton.
I was lucky enough to be able to go on an allotment trip last week with some South and West Room children, so the learning section below has pictures from that trip and from the Nest visiting the park next door as well as some water play activities from this week.

We have had some sickness recently. Please remember to keep your child off school for a full 48 hours after the last bout of sickness please. |
| Some of our Learning this week
Children from South and West Room enjoyed a visit to the allotment and watering the plants.
Our Nest children visited the park and showed just how many physical skills they have developed over the year
Our caterpillars are just beginning to form cocoons – I wonder how long it will be before we have butterflies?
The Nest children have really enjoyed getting their shoes and socks off and playing in the sandpit and paddling pool
The final photos made me smile as our Homerton children queued so considerately whilst waiting to fill their buckets of water at the water butt. Best wishes from all of us at Homerton and thank you for helping us in so many ways with all our activities. Try to keep cool! Alex
