March/April 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Parents’ questionnaires

Thank you so much for taking the time to complete these and for all your positive comments.  They are so touching and we truly believe it is a privilege for us to be able to share this stage in your children’s lives. We are always keen to improve our practice and the parent survey is a good way for us to look at how we can do this….the survey is shared with the Governors at our meeting later in March.

If anyone would like to book a time to see me to follow up individual comments/thoughts please do so.

Coronavirus

We are keeping updated daily on the Coronavirus, and using Circle times to remind children of good handwashing practices. I am sure you will be doing the same at home. I will of course send out any additional information to you, as we receive it.

Sock plea

We are currently very short of spare socks for the children so if you have any you would like to donate, or bring back to Homerton, then they would be very welcome. Please just give them to class staff.

World Book Day/Week is well underway

Children have been enjoying sharing lots of books this week from home – if you haven’t already then please do send your child to Nursery or Nest with a favourite book to share to celebrate World Book Day (please make sure your child’s name is in the book!). You are very welcome to come and read with your child and others in class, please just let your class teacher know if you are able to do this.

Each child will receive a book token to take home this week which can be exchanged for a book at local bookshops.

Hatching Chicks from the Monday 9th March

We will have some incubating eggs in the library, which we hope will hatch into chicks over the following two weeks.  Do creep quietly into the library to have a look during this time

Enrichment Students week beginning 16 March.

We have four teacher trainees from Cambridge University Faculty of Education coming to work at Homerton for the week as part of their post graduate teacher training course. Two of these students will be staying on for a second week and they will all be spending time both in the Nest and Nursery.

Easter Fun Day Wednesday 25th March – A parent event for Nest and Nursery parents!

Come and have fun with your child at our, “Easter Eggstravaganza” which will be held in the nursery school garden.  Come at drop off time morning or afternoon and be prepared to stay for 20 – 30 minutes. Invitations for this event will follow soon.

Parking

Thank you to all of you who have been helping keep our children safe by not parking on the yellow lines outside the Centre.  Some parents I have spoken to did not realise that there is a cut through next to house number 48 on Glebe Road which brings you out just across from Homerton.  It is a very pleasant 5 minute walk from Glebe Road through the allotments if you are able to leave slightly earlier and enjoy the walk with your child.

Easter Raffle on Wednesday 1st April

Tracey is starting to collect raffle prizes so please give any donations for this raffle to her – Thank you very much.

Dental Survey by Public Health England

Public Health England are undertaking a survey looking into the condition of teeth and gums for any child who is 3 year olds on the 1st April.

Homerton has been asked to take part in the survey this year so I will shortly be sending out some information to all parents of 3 year olds to ask if they would like their child to take part, this is entirely up to you to decide. The dental team will also be reading all children in the setting a story and bringing a puppet to demonstrate how best to keep teeth clean.

Owlets

Easter Holiday Club will run from Monday 6 – Thursday 9 April.  Please ask at the office for request forms. Holiday club is open for current children and their siblings up to the age of 8.
