Weekly Bulletin – 8 November 2018

Homerton Weekly Bulletin November 8th 2018 Dear Parents and Carers, Thank you to everyone for coming to parents evening last night. It was very nice to share some of the children’s experiences and successes with you all. Just a couple of things to mention this week are that the Cambridge University Botanical Gardens are opening with free entry this Sunday between 10am-4pm. The trees were looking beautiful there last week so if you are looking for a trip out it might be a good one. Our cake stall and fun run around the park are this coming week on Wednesday 14th November with joint proceeds going to Children in Need and Homerton.  Please do get baking for that and also remember to bring some money with you on Wednesday to buy some cakes. Just a reminder as well that we are a nut free school, due to the potential of allergic reactions. The plan is to encourage everyone at drop off time to have some fun running around the park next door, with their child, before buying a cake which they will well and truly deserve! Children can bring a favourite toy with them to take on their run round the park – please can you label toys. Diary date reminders Wednesday 14th Nov – Fun run and cake stall at drop off time….please see information above. Wednesday 5th Dec – Raffle – we are starting to collect prizes for the raffle in the black box at the entrance – if you wanted to put something in to the box that would be very much appreciated. Wednesday 5th Dec...

Weekly Bulletin – 31 October 2018

Dear Parents and Carers, Hope you have all had a lovely half term enjoying the Autumn sunshine. The children have come back very happily. They have been very excited today about our Homerton Fireworks display. The display is very low key with quieter fireworks, but provides a good opportunity to talk about safety and children usually enjoy this shared event which takes place in our garden during the session. Another event this week is that we have a new catering company called ‘Dolce’, who have taken over from Cambridge Catering Services. So far they have provided very delicious fresh meals cooked by Angela, who has worked very hard to ensure it has been a success. Below are the usual diary date reminders and there are also some attachments to read about applying for Reception places and getting a flu spray for your child. Diary date reminders Wednesday 31st Oct – Fireworks for the nursery school children (a few children may visit from The Nest), this event takes place during the day and is just for children and staff. Wednesday 7th Nov 7.30-8.45pm – Parents Evening for all Nest and Nursery parents with a presentation on Playing and Learning at Homerton. The presentation will be at 7.30-7.45 pm in the Rainbow Room, followed by visits to classes to talk to your class staff from 7.45-8.45pm. Wednesday 14th Nov – Fun run and cake stall at drop off time. We are planning a quick run round the park for parents, and children, followed by the opportunity to buy a cake! This is as a joint fundraiser for Homerton and Children in...

School Fund

Dear Parent’s We aim to offer the best provision at Homerton for your children. Part of this depends on enriching children’s experiences with visits to the park, visits to the allotment, planting and cooking together, a Christmas party, an end of year celebratory trip out and special visitors coming in to Homerton. Parents’ kindly make contributions to help support these extra-curricular activities and we ask that you consider this for the term or year to help us plan for the trips. Of course the donations are voluntary but we do depend on them so if you are able to give generously it is greatly appreciated. We suggest a contribution of £10 a half term, or approximately a £1.50 a week. If this amount is too hard for you we do totally understand and do not want to add to any families financial commitments, sometimes we are fortunate enough to have parents who are able to give a little more. Cash or cheques made out to Homerton Early Years Centre can be handed into the office. Alternatively you can pay by bank transfer 20-17-68 10711667 stating our child’s name as a reference. Very many thanks; your donations go directly to the children for the things that make life even more fun at Homerton! Best wishes Alex Pearson Head of Centre Homerton Early Years Centre Holbrook Road Cambridge CB1 7ST (01223) 508766...

The Nest cake stall was a great success and raised a fantastic £145.20 many thanks to everyone who made and bought the cakes. Also a big thank you to Tracey’s sister Sharon who ran the stall for us.
