Homerton Weekly Bulletin – Friday 8 December

Homerton Weekly Bulletin – Friday 8th December 2017 Dear Parents, Preparations for Christmas are well underway in all the rooms and there is a real feeling of excitement in the Centre.  Just a few things to mention this week… Firstly thank you so much for coming along to our Christmas Story Trail which I think the staff, and ex-staff enjoy as much as the children and parents. Many thanks also to the parents who participated as actors for the day. Thank you also for buying raffle tickets on Wednesday – we raised a fantastic £280.00 which will be used towards replacing books and toys for the children. Next week brings a lot more excitement.  We have a Christmas dinner on Tuesday for those who stay for lunch that day…some other classes enjoyed their Christmas lunch yesterday. We also have visits from Father Christmas next week – keep this one a surprise for the children please. Wednesday is party day, which is just for the children, and we have plans to sing lots of songs and enjoy some special food which we supply.  The children will also enjoy a play put on by ex-Homerton pupils…so a big thank you to them. Fran Crouch is joining the staff next week and will initially be working in East Room, and South Room on a Wednesday afternoon. Many thanks for all your support. Best wishes Alex and all at Homerton       Homerton Early Years Centre Holbrook Road Cambridge CB1 7ST (01223)...

Her current role will be covered by Bridget Cafferkey who already works in East Room. • Fran Crouch and Alex Elbro will be re-joining the staff and doing our PPA cover time for us. • A big thank you goes to Budgens who are kindly donating us a Christmas tree which hopefully you will all see on Wednesday. • Just a reminder that if your child is coming in late but needs a lunch then please ring the office by 10am to let them know. Homerton Weekly Bulletin 24th November 2017 Dear Parents, Just a few things for the coming week. • Tamsin, our lovely TA in East Red is leaving us to go on maternity leave on the 6th December. We will all really miss her and hope she will be returning to us in the next academic year. • If you are able to please can you donate an Xmas raffle prize to the red box in the entrance– the raffle will be drawn on the 6th December and tickets will be £1.00 a strip, for sale on that day only. • You will have received an invitation for the Xmas Story trail which takes place on 6th December at drop off time. Please do come along and join your child for this magical event. • Last week it was plastic bottles, this week it is wood. Thank you for sending in the plastic bottles much appreciated. • Many thanks to our parent governors who organised the social event this week. • The Guardian newspaper is doing a follow up piece on last year’s ‘Save Nursery Schools’ campaign so you may see something in the paper in the coming weeks about that with Homerton featuring again. • We must apologise as we have had a system problem sending out invoices by email and many of you have not received your November invoices. Please let Sue in the office know if this is the case. The December invoices will be paper copies and we will...

Homerton Weekly Bulletin 16.11.17

Dear Parents,   Thank you to everyone who came to the Parents evening and talk on play last week.  It was lovely to see so many parents.  The talk will be repeated for Nest parents and anyone who was not able to attend this time, in the Spring Term. Parents social event is coming up on Wednesday 22nd November at 7.45 at Queen Edith’s Pub – do go along if you are able to as it will be a chance to meet other parents and make some new friends. Please see attached information on applying for Reception places which needs to be done in the next few weeks – dates on the attachment. Please remember to keep a little time free at drop off on the 6th December to accompany your child around the garden on our magical Christmas Story trail. The trail usually takes about 30 minutes in total…more information will be sent on this shortly. Please can you collect any small clear plastic drink bottles with lids – size 500ml or less – for East and South Room who are planning a fun activity with them. As part of celebrating the many languages and cultures in the Centre we have a language and culture display board in the corridor outside Rainbow Room. Polish is this half term’s language so do take your child along to have a look and learn how to count to ten in Polish! Please do come and see me if there is anything you would like to discuss.   Best wishes Alex and all at Homerton...

Weekly Newsletter – 6 November 2017

Dear Parents We hope you all had a lovely half-term break.  The children who were here for holiday club seemed to have a lot of fun. Thank you very much for doing our Autumn Sponsor sheet which is now being shared in classes and raised over £100! We also had some beautiful designs for cards and mugs back so they will be sent off so that you get these back ready for Christmas.  Again this is a great fundraiser for us so thank you for ordering these. School has been busy this week and everyone seems to have returned to classes very happily.  We had a fireworks display on Wednesday which your children may have talked about.  They sat beautifully throughout it and there were lots of sounds of delight as the fireworks crackled into life. We talked about safety with the children so hopefully they will be well prepared for any fireworks events over the next few days. A reminder that Parents Evening is on Wednesday 8th November at 7.30pm.  This is a chance to hear a talk on ‘Play’, followed by an informal chat with class staff.  Due to limited space in the Rainbow Room we have decided that this will now be just for Nursery parents and we will have a similar event for Nest parents next term. If anyone has anything they wish to discuss with class staff at another time then please speak to class teachers and arrange an appointment. A social evening event to meet other parents has been arranged for Wednesday 22nd November at 7.45pm at Queen Edith’s Pub on Wulfstan Way. ...
